Continuing from the great event of the 39th Annual BC Elders Gathering at Saanich, BC hosted by the Tsawout First Nation and the WSSANEC Elders. The Elders were invited and gathering for another great year of celebrating our great knowledge keepers and teachers that have passed the generational values from our ancestors to us. We gathered in the great territory of the WSANEC People where the hands of elders reach out with love of culture to teach and guide the children - through these teachings children embrace their culture in honour and respect, loving and caring for elders through generations past and present. These teachings keep our culture alive.

With the nominations and election, King and Queen Doug and Kathleen LaFortune passed the crowns for the 2016 40th Annual BC Elders Gathering to the Interior, up the Fraser River and up to the West into the Chilcotin and Chilko Rivers to the Snow Mountains. The land where our War Leaders have protected the lands, waters, wild salmon and our future generations from the intrusion of the foreign white settlers plotting a rail and route in from Vancouver Island to the interior gold fields of the Cariboo through Tsilhqot’in territory, back in 1864.
